Kitchen Chemistry in Viet Nam 2023
At the end of March through to the beginning of April I was fortunate to be involved with a project that took me all the way to Viet Nam. Most of the time the project involved me in rather different presentations, although Kitchen Chemistry featured in some of those.
We started in Ho Chi Minh city, then visited Can Tho, before making our way to Buon ma Thuot (via Ho Chi Minh city) rounding off the project in Hanoi. Along the way I did the full Kitchen Chemistry show, with live simultaneous translation in some cases, to schools in Ho Chi Minh city and Hanoi, and to undergraduate students and their lecturers in Can Tho.
It was a great experience, and some of the sights you can see in the photogallery. We visited coffee plantations in the highlands, a floating market in the Mekong Delta, rooftop restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City and the famous Temple of Literature in Hanoi. Our hosts showed us Hanoi as pillion on mopeds. The best way to experience the big cities in Viet Nam.
It was lovely to be able to launch the Science Fair at Phenikaa School. The pupils had some fantastic projects to show off, and there is a very practical ethos in the school with facilities to match. I look forward to being able to take Kitchen Chemistry to Viet Nam again, and be able to visit more schools.
