Chemistry without a lab
After my adventures at Scifest Africa I travelled on to Mozambique to spend some time in schools in the Matola area with the original Kitchen Chemistry show. I also got to have a very relaxing day sightseeing – all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!
» Read moreThe Kitchen Chemist was once again busy at Scifest Africa this year. Although the theme was Innovation 4.0 there was little change to the shows and workshops that the Kitchen Chemist was involved in. Nor was there much time to see the delights of the rest of the Festival.
» Read moreMy week has seen two days at Ormiston Denes Academy in Lowestoft, and one in John Whitgift Academy in Grimsby, each with three shows. Next week I’m at Woodbridge School again and then start my travels in South Africa. But by far the most exciting news is that I’ve sold my first “Kitchen Chemistry” merchandise!

» Read moreAs a result of a chance conversation at a previous Scifest Africa I spent the week after the Umjikelezo We-Science festival in Mozambique, with Kitchen Chemistry. The whole trip has been an adventure, including the visa application, and with this experience under my belt a subsequent trip will be that much easier!
» Read moreKitchen Chemistry spent a week in Durban (4-8 September) helping a group of local science communicators deliver inspirational science to rural schools around Durban. The Festival itself was a pilot and took place Tuesday to Thursday, but there is always something for the Kitchen Chemist to do!

» Read moreThe Kitchen Chemist spent the second week of January putting on shows and workshops in schools in the South of France. The British Council in France arranged a series of events in schools in Avignon and Marseilles as part of their Science in Schools programme.
» Read moreThe Kitchen Chemistry show was part of Chemistry Day (26/10), a day organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry, at the Norwich Science Festival run by the Forum Trust from 18 -30 October. The Kitchen Chemist was also involved in Physics Fest which was a physics day organised by the local Institute of Physics.
